I am looking forward to...Art in Clay in Franschoek

I am looking forward to a weekend of beautiful ceramics at the "Art in Clay"festival in Franschoek"  this weekend. This promises to be a fabulous outing with something for everyone at the participating galleries, markets and restaurants.

This is my submission of works to be showcased at the IS ART Gallery. I am enjoying a more spontaneous approach to ceramics thanks to the Infocus workshop I attended through VANSA. Thank you,Kai!
"Sensing" is a series of black clay canvases incorporating wire, cloth and upholstery tacks. The clay underwent  tremendous stress as I pushed the limitations of the medium and this became an integral part of the aesthetic of the piece.

Today, I love red thread ...

According to an ancient Chinese belief, an invisible red thread connects a new-born's soul to all those, present and in the future, who will play a part in that child's life. Through time, those threads shorten, bringing those fated unions closer together.
I love that story. It makes me think of a bloodline that connects all humanity.
